For those of you unfamiliar, and that will soon change, Kelly is a small village-like town outside of Jackson Hole Wyoming. It has a wonderfully unique group of residents, a masterful view of the Teton Mountain Range, and accessibility to every type of outdoors activity you can imagine. You can fly fish, mountain bike, water ski, rock climb and kayak within minutes of the town, ski, hunt and snowshoe in the winter, and be in Yellowstone national park in an hour. The town and area sees a large amount of tourists in the summer and that's where Kelly on the Gros Ventre comes in to play.
As I write, I'm sitting in the one of the strangest places I've ever been. To my left is a high-grade custom-made Italian espresso machine that pumps out the tastiest coffee I've ever had, to my right is a sandwich prep area that that uses only the freshest ingredients (we manage to get California Avocados out here!), and on a clear day (very frequently) I can see the Grand Teton from the cash register.
This gives me and the Kelly staff a wonderful juxtaposition of luxury and wilderness within feet of each other. Staff at the store frequently have to warn tourists to stay away from the Buffalo if they're in the parking lot. As many adventures occur in the lives of Kelly on the Gros Ventre employees and frequently a fine story or two is to be had, I decided to create a blog that will allow workers (when there's no work to be done) to express themselves and inform any readers of the wonders that make working here worthwhile. Please feel free to leave comments, ask questions and follow along. We've got four full time employees: Al, Heather, Brett and Danielle, and a host of part time workers that help around the shop and work in the area. Hopefully you will hear from each of them as the summer and year progresses.
